I had a Dr's appt. yesterday with my OB for my monthly check up. Everything went well. I am so excited, cause Ethan is growing so well, and his heartbeat everytime I hear it sounds stronger and stronger. What an amazing miracle!! I was told I gained 7 lbs over the past month. YIKES!! I am not even eating badly either. I mean, yah I probably could eat one less cookie, but for the most part, its been good eating. He asked me if I eat out, and I am SOO guilty of going out for lunch everyday at work. I try to eat well when I eat at these places, but he said it doesn’t matter how well I try to eat, it won't work. He told me to try to start bringing my lunches from home and focusing on eating JUST that! Oh gosh-- restrictions ALREADY! 7lbs isn't bad he said- but he would have only wanted me to gain 4lbs. So, I have 3 less lbs. I can gain this next month.
I love this Dr. because everytime you go in, it isn't an intrusive exam. He doesn't feel the "need" to check on things unless you are having issues, OR you tell him that you feel a certain way and just ask questions. I guess as you get closer, (32 weeks) then those exams start happening. But, with my plan I think he will just be checking to make sure I am not dilating prior to me giving birth. I told him I was having a lot of pressure the other day, and he chuckled while reading through my chart and says, "Well, even with the help of Pitocin, and the steri-strips, you didn’t dilate at all with your first, so I am guessing you are not going through pre-term dilation." Well, that’s a Positive!
So, other than that, he measured my stomach, let me listen to the baby's heartbeat, and then we had THE TALK, about how I was planning on giving birth, and when this was going to take place. He is really involved, and I love how he plans ahead. He wants to know what you are thinking, how you want things, explains how he works, and makes sure that throughout the whole time, you feel 100% confident, and completely comfortable. I LOVE IT!
So, I have chosen after speaking long and hard with my husband to have an "Elective C-Section" with Ethan. I was willing to give the idea a try to push this baby out, and have him naturally, until the risks were explained to me, and I have completed my research on VBAC's. Now-a-days, having a VBAC is normal procedure to some doctors, and an absolute "NO NO" to other Dr's. My Dr. would have done whatever way I thought I wanted to go. So, he told me if I wanted to go C-Section then I could choose his B-day, and just let him know when to schedule me. So, we talked about it and I chose it yesterday! I would have never thought I would have been able to pick my kids b-day's! I tried with Zachary too, but he ended up being 1 day later, cause the induction didn't work. But, Ethan will be born on the date I selected! In 3 short months... our family will grow by 2 more hands, and 2 more feet.
We STILL have not decided on a middle name yet. Well, Josh wants James, but I am not 100% sold yet. I am still looking around trying to find something that sounds good with Ethan, that people in our family don't already have.
Til Next Time...
